Jacksons' Art Competition

Last term Jacksons estate agent sponsored a competition for Heber Primary School children to design a Christmas jumper with the winners being awarded Just Williams vouchers.

We were overwhelmed by the number of participants, 170 in total, making it all the harder for the judges to pick their favourites. After hours of deliberation, seven entrants were hand picked for a special prize: their designs being printed onto their very own jumpers, something which was kept secret until the awards ceremony at Jackson's office during the Dulwich Christmas Cracker. Runners up were awarded chocolate coins and all entries were displayed in Jacksons office.

Thank you to everyone for taking part and to Jacksons for their generous sponsorship and prizes.

Welcome to the new term and the new year! We are really looking forward to another great year of fundraising for Heber and all the wonderful and fun events we are planning.

We would like to thank you all for your amazing support and hard work last year. We had some great events and we hope you enjoyed attending and helping.

The festive season was especially wonderful for the children. Thank you for all your support with making that happen and an extra big thank you to Dan Manning for playing santa on the last day of term & spending the better part of the day visiting every class in the entire school!

Here's to a brilliant 2016!

Next Friday (14th November) is the Heber Parents' School Disco! Have you bought your ticket yet? If not then track down your class rep and buy some tickets. It promises to be another really fun night and this year we have a live band made up of a group of dads from the school.

Here's a little bit about them from sing Noel!

"The band have been together for 5 years and invited me to sing last year.

We are all local to East Dulwich, we all have full time jobs and children at Heber and Goodrich school. Because of various commitments with our jobs, families etc, we tend to only do occasional gigs and plan rehearsals a month before hand. Tuesday nights is our get together. Starting off in the shed and then moving to a proper sound proofed studio a couple of weeks before a gig.

I can’t speak for the rest of the band but it gives me the chance to pretend i’m still 18 years old. It's easy to forget all those responsibilities when you here a distorted guitar blasting out the speakers!

The key for us is we don’t take it too seriously and try and have fun. If you don't enjoy it there’s no point doing it. Getting together and making lots of noise (in tune) is a great stress buster.

Luckily the guys are all pretty accomplished musicians, so we’re lucky in that we haven’t managed to clear a room during a gig just yet. There’s always a first time though!

Buy your tickets, put on your dancing shoes and come and support Noel and the rest of the band next Friday!

Plans are now under way for this year's Parents' Disco, which is going to be held on Friday 14th November. Book your babysitters now!

The P&F are looking for some volunteers to help run the disco.

We need help to:

Prepare the hall on the day
Help behind the bar
Help on the the door
Help to clear up at the end

If you are able to volunteer please email Barbara ASAP.

This year's theme is Glastonbury, so we are also looking for any musicians or bands who would be interested in performing at the disco. It would be great to have a couple of live acts at the start of the disco before the DJs start spinning.

Thank you!

The Heber P&F AGM is taking place on Friday 10th October 2014, 9.45am in the bottom hall of the school.
The AGM is the meeting whereby new Committee members  are appointed. There is lots of opportunity to be involved in the Committee and we would love to hear from anyone who is interested in any of the positions.
So please don't be shy - your Committee needs you!. If you are interested in contributing in any way, please drop me an email and/or come along on the 10th (babies and pre-schoolers very welcome as anyone who came to last year's AGM will attest!). We will also be discussing fundraising ideas and priority projects for funding 2014/2015 - all ideas VERY welcome .
